SCAFL – Grand Final Review

LA Black 9.7.61 def LA Blue 8.9.57
The highly anticipated Grand final between both LA sides was sure not to disappoint. With some significant changes across the Blue & Black, both sides were equally match up across the field. Playing the exact same game plan, it would come down to who played the game plan & structures more effectively and more importantly, our non-negotiable aspect of 1st option and EFFORT. The game was competitive right from the very onset. The 2 new inclusions into the Black midfield, Jacko & Jimi proved to be a handful for the Blue midfield in the 1st quarter. Big Luke capped off some hard work from the backs and midfielders and the Black put themselves up by 3 goals at qrt time. The breeze was stiff, and after some “realignment” from the Blues they started the 2nd quarter off well. With big D Rock giving the on ballers first touch, the Blues’ narrowed the lead by the main break to a few points. The second half was a tight, physical and demanding contest. Both sides were using our structures well and controlling possession with smart tempo play. The big men for both sides had big impacts as the midfielders begun to run out of legs due to the hot conditions and their hard work. Sam and D Rock battled all day, and football was the winner between those 2. Colletti had big impacts both up forward and down back and continues to evolve at a rapid pace. With a best on ground performance from Disco down back leading the way the victory come down to effort. The 1%’s. It was sheer determination and desire that got the Black’s over the line.

Message from Coach Dogs
Well done all 3 LA teams – Black, Blue and Riverside. Also, thank you to all the supporters who came along throughout the metro season. Now we change our focus on the real stuff, the 18’s. Our first task is to win the Western Regionals in Portland next month. The boys know we will have a full squad to select from going into the 18’s, so I have no doubt they will be working hard on and off the training track to ensure they put themselves in the best possible position to cement their spot in the team. I would also like to thank everyone that has signed up to the Dragons Den as a supporter member Because of your contribution we are able to provide the best possible support to the boys to ensure we set ourselves up for success in the upcoming 18’s season. If you haven’t yet committed to the Dragons Den, please dig deep and find $50 to do so. It’s only a small amount, but makes a huge difference to the club. Jump on using this link.
