LA Dragons | 9 Goal Win A Strong Performance Over Dallas

9 Goal Win A Strong Performance Over Dallas

After the loss to Golden Gate the previous week, collectively the team decided that more was required. More effort both on and off the field. Training intensified and the buzz was felt across the entire group. Finally things are starting to come together as we head towards the National championships. It’s perfect timing to start playing our best football.
On a typical sunny day in SoCal, the Dallas boys made the trip over and were ready to go. Unfortunately for them, the Dragons were too. Expectations were high! It was a tight first few minutes, but then our backline got on top and dominated the rebound ball. Lead by Club Captain, Bags and Club Vice Captain, Billy, we controlled every aspect of the game. The ball was moving quickly into our forwards, but we did not make the most of our opportunities. Dallas had realized that they needed to reduce the scoring, and as such flooded our forward line, making it difficult to find the right option, which caused us to take low percentage shots at goal. Leading into the half scores were LA: 5.6:36 to Dallas:0.3:3

At the break it was great to see our leaders really stand up and take control. Needless to say, Coach was happy.
The game was over at half time, but we didn’t take the foot off the pedal. We pushed harder, but the sapping SoCal sun was taking its toll. We continued to run and play our structures and our conversation rate improved. We kicked 4 goals straight in the second half and more importantly, held Dallas goalless. It was a great effort by all. It was our best performance year to date.

Final Scores
LA: 9.6: 60
Dallas: 0.5:5

Best Players
Billy, Bags, Jacko, Griggy and Dollar. Special mentions go to JK, who embrace his new leadership role and lead from the front, Disco for his outstanding and consistent efforts down back, D Rock for his relentless effort across the ground and BIG COUNTRY for being a target up forward we’ve been missing.

Message from the Coach:
Super proud of the commitment the team showed off the field this week. We have a great culture and everyone is on board for the right reasons and are focus is truly on winning the National Champs. The next 4 weeks are critical for our preparation and having a good win against Dallas was essential for us to launch into our next phases of evolution. I want to thank all the supporters and support team that came to the game on Saturday. We really appreciate it. The next few weeks we will ramp our training up a gear and look to take home the SoCal cup.
